  • Discovery Park Braybrook (western suburbs)
    • 1min walk: catch train to Footscray station then the 220 bus towards Sunshine leaving only a 1min walk
    • 26min walk: from Tottenham train station
  • Crystal Brook Tourist Park Warrandyte (NE suburbs)
    • 906 bus then 4min walk

Relatively short walks

  • many towns have commercial caravan parks relatively close to train stations or bus stops
  • Mornington Peninsula foreshore camp grounds
    • train to Frankston then bus
    • eg. Rosebud 4-9min walk from bus
  • Warburton Caravan Park
    • Train to Lilydale, bus to Warburton.
  • Doon Reserve, Yarra Junction
  • French Island
    • catch a train to stony point then either:
    • camp at Stony Point caravan park
    • or jump on the ferry to French island and camp at the lodge
  • Bellarine peninsula beach camp grounds
    • Train to Geelong then bus eg. Portarlington, Queenscliff
  • Otway coastal and Great Ocean Road camping grounds (all paid)
    • Train to Geelong then bus to any spot along the Great Ocean Road, Torquay, Anglesea, Lorne
    • camp sites are all close to the beach and town facilities
  • Warrnambool caravan parks
  • Warragul Gardens CP
    • not far from Warragul train station
  • Cowes, Philip Island
    • V-Line bus towards Yarram change at Koo-Wee_Rup - 2.5hrs on buses then about 15min walk

Longer walks

  • Green Hills Lake camp ground Ararat
    • free campground with hot showers 1 hour walk from train station along gravel path
