introduction

  • wide angle rectilinear prime lens offering 63º diagonal field of view = 40º vertical and 56º horizontal
  • 35mm focal length is a favourite focal length for street photographers and travel photographers although they would probably prefer a more compact f/2 or f/2.8 version

Canon EF 35mm F1.4L II USM

  • totally re-designed optics make it MUCH HEAVIER at 760g not 580g and much longer 106mm not 86mm!
  • 9 blades not 8 for nicer 18-ray sunburst effect
  • 1st lens to incorporate Canon-designed Blue Spectrum Refractive Optics for less CA as the BR optic can significantly refract blue light
  • flourine coating helps to repel liquids and dust particles
  • now weathersealed

    • very sharp wide open and sharp to edges - the sharpest 35mm f/1.4 lens to date
    • vignetting 2.34EV in corners
    • 0.33% barrel distortion
    • minimal CA, much less purple fringing, LoCA and softness and flare wide open than Mark I version and much less distortion
