Panasonic S full frame mirrorless system

Introduction

  • formerly announced Sept 2018 (available April 2019) and uses the Leica L mount
  • Panasonic and will partner with both Leica and Sigma (the L-mount alliance) and thus will be able to fully utilize the Leica L mount lenses from Leica or Sigma
  • new features:
    • HLG Photo Mode which captures photos with high dynamic range using the Hybrid Log Gamma profile. Photos are saved as HSP files, which can be viewed on HLG-compliant devices
      • These will be among the first cameras to be able to take advantage of the latest HDR displays: showing a natural-looking image with a wider dynamic range (not squeezing a wide dynamic range into the limitations of older, standard-DR monitors)
    • multi-shot sensor-shift high-resolution mode with an option to suppress motion blur
    • AI-based AF system which not only detects eyes (including animals) and faces but also human bodies for when their face is not visible or they are behind objects, and the user can select which one when there are multiple by using the touch screen.
    • when you turn the top LCD screen lamp on, the rear buttons light up as well.
    • if you open the card door whilst it is writing to the card an audible alarm will occur.
