Denmark part VI &#8211; the fantastic art galleries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I must admit, I loved walking through Copenhagen&#8217;s art galleries, particularly as they allow you to remember your experiences by taking photos (unlike those in Amsterdam and Canberra whose paintings I have now largely forgotten), and encourage others to visit.<\/p>\n<p>Denmark&#8217;s national gallery is the <strong>Statens Museum for Kunst<\/strong> (Kunst is Danish for art):<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/photos\/art\/Denmark\/NationalGallery\/P1100284.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/photos\/art\/Denmark\/NationalGallery\/P1100284.jpg\" alt=\"figures\" width=\"600\/\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Michael Kvium&#8217;s &#8220;Choir&#8221;:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/photos\/art\/Denmark\/NationalGallery\/P1100305.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/photos\/art\/Denmark\/NationalGallery\/P1100305.jpg\" alt=\"choir\" width=\"600\/\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>the delightful &#8220;Artist&#8217;s wife and child&#8221;:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/photos\/art\/Denmark\/NationalGallery\/P1100351.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/photos\/art\/Denmark\/NationalGallery\/P1100351.jpg\" alt=\"wife and child\" width=\"600\/\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So many more goodies from this gallery can be seen in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/JAlbumAll\/art\/Denmark\/NationalGallery\/index.htm\">my album here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Next is the Glyptotek<\/strong> which is primarily statues from Ancient Roman and Greek era such as these ones displayed in this very nice auditorium in which classical music artists play to a silent audience:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/photos\/art\/Denmark\/Glyptotek\/P1100592.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/photos\/art\/Denmark\/Glyptotek\/P1100592.jpg\" alt=\"auditorium\" width=\"600\/\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you happened to have become bored with Roman and Greek statues after being in Rome or the Louvre, then there is still something else rather special &#8211; four beautifully crafted rooms with the most awesome marble sculptures by Stephan Sinding, <strong>Rodin<\/strong>, and others, such as this beautiful piece titled <strong>&#8220;Love&#8221; made in 1909 by Stephan Sinding<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/photos\/art\/Denmark\/Glyptotek\/P1100651.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/photos\/art\/Denmark\/Glyptotek\/P1100651.jpg\" alt=\"Love\" width=\"600\/\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nand &#8220;Death of a maiden&#8221; made in 1912 by Elna Borch:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/photos\/art\/Denmark\/Glyptotek\/P1100663.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/photos\/art\/Denmark\/Glyptotek\/P1100663.jpg\" alt=\"Death of a maiden\" width=\"600\/\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>and finally, there are a couple of floors of paintings by <strong>French Impressionists<\/strong>, plus, a collection of Degas sculptures and figurines.<\/p>\n<p>For a taste of what you can experience in this enormous collection, see <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/JAlbumAll\/art\/Denmark\/Glyptotek\/index.htm\">my album here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Next we have the collection of works held in the Hirschsprung Gallery such as &#8220;Nude woman doing her hair before a mirror&#8221; by Eckersberg in 1841<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/photos\/art\/Denmark\/Hirschsprung\/P1110710.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/photos\/art\/Denmark\/Hirschsprung\/P1110710.jpg\" alt=\"Nude woman\" width=\"600\/\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>and one of my favorites, <strong>Kroyer&#8217;s 1882 &#8220;When there is no fishing&#8221;<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/photos\/art\/Denmark\/Hirschsprung\/P1110716.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/photos\/art\/Denmark\/Hirschsprung\/P1110716.jpg\" alt=\"No fishing\" width=\"600\/\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>More from this art gallery can be seen in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/JAlbumAll\/art\/Denmark\/Hirschsprung\/index.htm\">my album here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, <strong>one should not miss Rosenborg Castle<\/strong> in Copenhagen &#8211;
