{"id":5912,"date":"2013-01-26T22:57:14","date_gmt":"2013-01-26T12:57:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/wp02\/?p=5912"},"modified":"2013-01-26T22:57:14","modified_gmt":"2013-01-26T12:57:14","slug":"bokeh-heaven-with-the-olympus-75mm-f1-8-lens-on-australia-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/wp02\/?p=5912","title":{"rendered":"Bokeh heaven with the Olympus 75mm f\/1.8 lens on Australia Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today is Australia Day, and in Melbourne, we have an annual vintage heritage car rally and the locals take the opportunity of going for a stroll amongst the cars and snacking on the many options from the temporary food stalls while listening to free music and watching the aerial antics of the Roulettes.<\/p>\n<p>I took the opportunity to have a leisurely stroll and play with my beloved <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/wiki\/doku.php?id=photo:olympusmzd75mm\" target=\"_blank\">Olympus mZD 75mm f\/1.8 lens<\/a> on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/wiki\/doku.php?id=photo:olympusomdem5\" target=\"_blank\">Olympus E-M5<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/wiki\/doku.php?id=photo:microfourthirds\" target=\"_blank\">Micro Four Thirds camera<\/a> &#8211; an absolutely awesome combination when you want <strong>bitingly sharp images with beautiful smooth bokeh<\/strong> &#8211; a photographer&#8217;s dream!<\/p>\n<p>So here I present a few from today.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/photos\/ByLens\/OlympusEM5\/OlympusmZD75mm\/GA265409-1.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/photos\/ByLens\/OlympusEM5\/OlympusmZD75mm\/GA265409-1.jpg\" alt=\"vintage bokeh\" width=\"600\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/photos\/ByLens\/OlympusEM5\/OlympusmZD75mm\/GA265383-1.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/photos\/ByLens\/OlympusEM5\/OlympusmZD75mm\/GA265383-1.jpg\" alt=\"vintage bokeh\" width=\"600\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>and some of the Paparazzi Dogs &#8211; a new, larger than life size series of statues in Melbourne&#8217;s Federation Square:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/photos\/ByLens\/OlympusEM5\/OlympusmZD75mm\/GA265428-1.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/photos\/ByLens\/OlympusEM5\/OlympusmZD75mm\/GA265428-1.jpg\" alt=\"Paparazzi Dogs\" width=\"600\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/photos\/ByLens\/OlympusEM5\/OlympusmZD75mm\/GA265426-1.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/photos\/ByLens\/OlympusEM5\/OlympusmZD75mm\/GA265426-1.jpg\" alt=\"Paparazzi Dogs\" width=\"600\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>seems they are using a Canon dSLR:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/photos\/ByLens\/OlympusEM5\/OlympusmZD75mm\/GA265430-1.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/photos\/ByLens\/OlympusEM5\/OlympusmZD75mm\/GA265430-1.jpg\" alt=\"Paparazzi Dogs\" width=\"600\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you are taking shots like these, make sure you turn off the E-M5&#8217;s face detection AF as this will over-ride your AF selection as in this shot where it automatically sets AF to the nearest person&#8217;s closest eye &#8211; great for portraiture but stuffs up your vintage car shots!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/photos\/ByLens\/OlympusEM5\/OlympusmZD75mm\/GA265374-1.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/photos\/ByLens\/OlympusEM5\/OlympusmZD75mm\/GA265374-1.jpg\" alt=\"E-M5 face detection AF\" width=\"600\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today is Australia Day, and in Melbourne, we have an annual vintage heritage car rally and the locals take the opportunity of going for a stroll amongst the cars and snacking on the many options from the temporary food stalls while listening to free music and watching the aerial antics of the Roulettes.
