Frederick Henry GLARE's farm Winnera in Wallacedale Nth.

John Henry GLARE (my grandfather) and Ted TERRY (with hat) in their tent after a storm on the gold diggings at Dry Creek in Victoria c. 1915. These two traveled together as shearers in the Murray region from the Wimmera and Mallee eastwards to south-eastern NSW and Gundagai. When they were not shearing, they prospected for gold. But their paths parted after my grandfather met his bride in Linga, Victoria whom he married in 1919.
John Henry settled on a farm about a mile away from his father's until John Henry and family moved to nearby Condah in 1936 and then to Portland in 1948.

Prince Henry, the Duke of Gloucester and Lord Nuffield (who founded Morris Motors) came to Portland in 1934 for Victoria's centenary celebrations and several of my relatives along with their friends are in the crowd to greet them.
