Bibbulmun Hiking Track, Western Australia
Introduction
- a fantastic well signposted 1000km hike from Albany, around the south-west coast beaches then up through the forests of Mt Pingerup to Pemberton, Donnelly River, through rural pastoral lands and woddlands of Balingup, Grimwade, Noggerup, Yabberup, Mungalup Dam, Collie, Possums Springs, Murray River, Dwellingup, Etmlyn railway line, Chadoora, Mt Wells, the granite boulders of White Horse Hills, Mt Cook, Monadnocks, Mt Dale, the awesome Helena campsite, Mundaring Weir, Hewett's Hill then finishing at Kalamunda on the outskirts of Perth
- there are 49 shelters (first in first served basis so you still need a tent in case the shelter is full and tents are warmer, more private and give more protection from mosquitoes) along the trail at each section trailhead with water and drop toilets
- you use one of the provided canoes to canoe across the Irwin Inlet!
- sections are usually about 35km long
- you are able to hire much of the equipment - see https://www.bibbulmuntrack.org.au/trip-planner/equipment-hire
- check out some solo hikers who documented their hikes:
- the end-to-end hike should NOT be done in summer as it is too hot and there is bushfire risk - April is a great time to do it
- make sure you read the FAQs!
