{"id":10091,"date":"2025-01-30T16:37:25","date_gmt":"2025-01-30T06:37:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/wp02\/?p=10091"},"modified":"2025-01-30T16:37:26","modified_gmt":"2025-01-30T06:37:26","slug":"comet-c-2024-g3-atlas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/wp02\/?p=10091","title":{"rendered":"Comet C\/2024 G3 (ATLAS)\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\n<p>Comet <a href=\"https:\/\/theskylive.com\/c2024g3-info\">C\/2024 G3 (ATLAS)<\/a> has graced the evening skies of those of us who live in the Southern Hemisphere and is provided a lovely show just visible to the naked eye &#8211; if you know where to look about 1 &#8211; 1.5hrs after sunset in late January 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The comet will not be returning for another 160,000 years so this was a great opportunity to get out into a rural dark area and get some photos with either a smartphone hand held, or a camera on a tripod with relatively short exposures of 3-5 seconds and a 85-135mm focal length range lens.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/photos\/astronomy\/CometG3Atlas_GA.jpg\" alt=\"comet G3\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Taken on 24th Jan 2025 as a stack of 10 images of various exposure and ISO values using a Sony A7RIV camera with Sony 135mm f\/1.8 lens at f\/1.8.
