{"id":1146,"date":"2009-05-10T12:30:23","date_gmt":"2009-05-10T02:30:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/wp02\/?p=1146"},"modified":"2009-05-10T12:30:23","modified_gmt":"2009-05-10T02:30:23","slug":"kodaks-new-ektar-100-colour-negative-film-finest-grain-available","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/wp02\/?p=1146","title":{"rendered":"Kodak&#8217;s new Ektar 100 colour negative film &#8211; finest grain available"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Film is not quite dead.<\/p>\n<p>Kodak has announced a new colour negative film which will also be available in 120 film size as of April 2009 &#8211; the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kodak.com\/global\/en\/professional\/products\/films\/ektar\/ektarIndex.jhtml\">Kodak Ektar 100<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It is said to have ultra-vivid colour, exceptional sharpness, extraordinary enlargement capability and is ideal for scanning.<\/p>\n<p>Recommended particularly for nature, travel and outdoor photography but also for fashion and product photography.<\/p>\n<p>Will have to see how well it goes with my Bronica SQ system, Mamiya C330F TLR and my newest 120 film camera acquisition &#8211; an almost mint <strong>c1939 Carl Zeiss Ikon 521\/16(B) 120 film camera<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/photos\/equip\/myZeissIkon521-16B.jpg\" alt=\"Zeiss Ikon\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This camera is really only useful for landscape shots (with sun behind you, or for creative flare shots) as you have to guess the focus distance for closer shots, accurate composition is not easy in that viewfinder, there is no flash sync, there is no coatings on the lens to reduce flare and the lens works best at f\/8-16.<\/p>\n<p>But it is a nice coat-pocketable 120 film camera which should take some nice shots and may be suitable for infrared work via a hand holdable Hoya R72 filter and manually adjusting the focus to suit.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Film is not quite dead.
