{"id":3956,"date":"2010-11-06T10:11:31","date_gmt":"2010-11-06T00:11:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/wp02\/?p=3956"},"modified":"2010-11-06T10:16:56","modified_gmt":"2010-11-06T00:16:56","slug":"europe-holiday-rome-v-art-works-inside-the-vatican-using-the-leica-d-25mm-f1-4-lens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/wp02\/?p=3956","title":{"rendered":"Europe holiday &#8211; Rome V &#8211; art works inside the Vatican using the Leica-D 25mm f\/1.4 lens"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Most of the art galleries in Italy do not allow photography, but the Vatican allows photography except inside the Sistine Chapel itself.<\/p>\n<p>The lighting is quite variable, and thus a lens such as the Leica-D 25mm f\/1.4 or the Olympus ZD 50mm f\/2.0 macro is very handy to have with you &#8211; tripods are impossible, and you do not want to be using electronic flash!<\/p>\n<p>These photos were taken with the Leica-D 25mm f\/1.4 lens on the Panasonic GH-1 Micro Four Thirds camera.<\/p>\n<p>They even had a Van Gogh painted ca 1890 (ISO 400, 1\/40th sec, f\/1.4):<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/photos\/art\/Vatican\/P1090296.jpg\" alt=\"Van Gogh\" \/> <\/p>\n<p>And a version of Rodin&#8217;s <em>The Thinker<\/em>:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/photos\/art\/Vatican\/P1090298.jpg\" alt=\"Rodin\" \/> <\/p>\n<p>Much of the collection, is either religious symbolism, art nudes or disturbing, graphic depictions of violence, such as this large tapestry wall mural of which only a small section is shown here:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/photos\/art\/Vatican\/P1090256.jpg\" alt=\"Violence\" \/> <\/p>\n<p>More of my photos of the Vatican collection can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ayton.id.au\/gary\/JAlbumAll\/art\/Vatican\/index.htm\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Most of the art galleries in Italy do not allow photography, but the Vatican allows photography except inside the Sistine Chapel itself.
