Welcome to my website.

I am Gary Ayton, I live in the north-west suburbs of Melbourne  (the most liveable city in the world until everyone found out and put our housing prices up) which is in Victoria, Australia.

I am not a professional photographer or astronomer but these are amongst my many hobbies and interests. 

I am not really interested in making money from my hobbies as then they tend to become work and I want them to stay as hobbies. I take photos of what I feel like taking photos of depending on my mood and opportunities, and if you like them, then well and good. 

As many have wanted prints of these, I have created a facility that allows you to order prints of my images and the little profit this gives me helps to keep Anna off my back when I buy more equipment :)

I also program computers mainly using databases and CodeGear's Delphi program (was Borland).

The purposes of this website are several:

• a place to display my photos - not much point taking photos if I don't show them to anyone, although there is much psychological benefit to be had in just getting out and taking photos and trying to see the world in a different light.

• a place to jot down information and links I come across so that I can manage my information overload better and be more efficient - and perhaps others will find useful

• a place where distant relatives can find out more about their ancestry and be a central point to display related historic photos.

You are welcome to browse my website for free (try using the search tool), but you use the information in it at your own risk. If you find that the information was useful and you feel guilty that I have used much of my spare time to help you be more efficient, then feel free to make a small donation of $US5 via PayPal. My wife will then be more happy to let me waste my time and continue to update these pages as new information passes my way. In general, clicking on a small image will open a larger image but due to the limits of my web server and download times, even these are only 20-25% of the original size as I am to have the images a maximum of 1000x700 pixels for ease of viewing on most computer screens.  For best viewing ensure your monitor is adjusted to see all segments and your screen resolution is set to at least 800 to 1000 pixels vertically.   All images on this website are © copyright 2004-2008 Gary & Anna Ayton. Apart from Google  Ads and a sponsor ad at the bottom of some pages, there are no ads, no popup windows, but for the time being the site does use Frontpage extensions, so apologies to those Mac users whose browsers do not display it well. Have to pay to keep this website up & running somehow!
