I had not realised that before Hiroshima bombing in World War II, the US carpet bombed a large area of Tokyo and thus there are very few areas of pre-war authentic buildings. One of them we found in the suburb of Yanaka
The streetscape is now mainly converted to tourism with its many shops, coffee outlets and small bars
